Wardrobes look simple compared with a full interior project, but poor planning can create daily inconvenience. NRIs approving wardrobe designs remotely should focus on internal function first and exterior styling second.
Start with what needs to be stored
Separate hanging clothes, folded clothes, luggage, accessories, documents and seasonal items. The internal division should respond to real storage habits instead of using the same standard arrangement in every bedroom.
Check door type and clearance
Hinged and sliding wardrobes use space differently. Review nearby beds, side tables, doors and walkways before approving the shutter type.
Review internal dimensions
Ask for clear internal divisions in the drawing. Check whether shelves, drawers and hanging sections are practical for the person using the room.
Coordinate wardrobe and electrical points
Switches, sockets, AC points or other services should not end up hidden behind a wardrobe. Verify the wall before the final layout is frozen.
Approve exterior finish with the room palette
A wardrobe occupies a large visual area, so its colour and finish should be reviewed with flooring, wall colours and other furniture rather than in isolation.
Use a wardrobe handover checklist
Check shutter movement, alignment, handles or profiles, drawer operation and visible finish consistency before storing clothes inside.
