A modular kitchen is one of the most decision-heavy parts of a Bangalore home interior. For an NRI managing the project from abroad, layout, appliance sizes, storage, hardware and finishes should be resolved in a logical order so remote approvals stay manageable.
Confirm the kitchen layout first
Before selecting colours, review the work triangle, counter lengths, appliance locations, sink position and utility connection. Decorative decisions should come after the functional layout is clear.
Share appliance dimensions early
Refrigerators, ovens, hobs, chimneys, dishwashers and other appliances can affect cabinet sizes. If exact models are not final, provide reliable dimensions or allowances before manufacturing decisions are made.
Prioritise everyday storage
List what you actually need to store: cookware, groceries, small appliances, bottles and cleaning items. This helps distinguish useful drawers, tall units and corner storage from accessories that may not be essential.
Approve hardware and finishes separately
Do not let a colour approval become an assumption that all hardware is also approved. Keep shutters, internal material, handles or profiles and hardware specifications clearly recorded.
Review drawings at eye level
Elevation drawings help you understand overhead units, tall units and appliance integration. Check access and clearances instead of approving only a top-view plan.
Create a kitchen-specific handover list
At completion, check shutter alignment, drawer movement, hardware operation, accessible edges, appliance clearances and visible finishing before the kitchen is filled with items.
